Tellyo and Atos Deliver Flawless Digital Production for European Games
London, UK, 11th July 2023 – The 2023 European Games concluded last week, allowing the teams at Tellyo and Atos to finally catch their breath after successfully executing their largest joint project to date. This massive undertaking required extensive planning, integration with ODF format data, and custom development to ensure an efficient and painless workflow and to meet the needs of numerous editors and stakeholders.
Atos deployed over 30 editors who were able to simultaneously access any live feeds from the event in real time. They created customised highlights and packages for distribution to the federations, National Olympic Committees (NOCs), and directly to the athletes. Moreover, all content could be published directly to various social channels and digital platforms, significantly expanding its reach.
Throughout the two-week duration of the event, Tellyo ingested a total of over 1700 hours of content from the live feeds across 26 different sports. From this vast amount of material, the editorial team generated 9000 clips and content packages for distribution on social media channels, digital platforms, and within the editorial workflows of all interested parties. This enabled the content to be published online and shared with the participating sports federations and NOCs.
An especially notable part of Tellyo’s partnership with Atos involved the integration of Tellyo’s innovative Tellyo Talent application as an SDK into the official European Games Athlete app. This enabled editors to directly share approved bespoke content with each athlete, empowering them to easily publish video content on their own social media accounts. This strategy extended the reach of the video content and significantly boosted engagement around the games.
Another key element of the project saw Tellyo Pro integrating with and supporting ODF (Olympic Data Format) metadata across all 26 sports. This is the first time that this major event data format has been supported by a cloud-based system, enabling editors to plan and create clips on the basis of specific timings and important moments of action. The inclusion of this metadata made the process of distributing clips to the correct federations, NOCs and athletes more accurate and efficient, as well as creating a tremendously valuable searchable archive for future use.
The feedback received from athletes, sports federations, and NOCs has been overwhelmingly positive. Manuel Pastrana Gonzalez, the Spanish Olympic Committee’s Director of New Technologies, said “Tellyo has played a definitive role in helping us engage with a greater number of followers. Our data shows we have grown our audience by almost 3000% compared with pre-games levels”. Looking at the overall data, it is evident that the digital production really caught the public’s imagination and resulted in an impressive surge in reach and engagement. “This project was incredibly comprehensive,” states Tellyo COO Dr. Jakub Majkowski. “I am thrilled with the results we achieved, and I know various NOCs and sports federations involved will be eager to carry this momentum into Paris 2024”. Eulogio Ruiz Azaro, Chief Strategy Officer at Atos Major Events, is in complete agreement. “This was an incredibly busy and complex event, and the support we received from Tellyo was first-class. The power and ease of use of their solutions really helped us keep on top of the intense schedule, and the quality of the results speak for themselves”.
Richard Collins, CEO of Tellyo, expressed his immense pride in what the teams accomplished and how the collaboration with Atos has flourished. “While the games themselves lasted only two weeks, this project had a six-month planning phase, and the partnership with Atos has been exceptional. We have received remarkable emails from NOCs and athletes, and both teams should rightfully be proud of their efforts. Tellyo will again work with Atos for the upcoming European Youth Olympic Festival in Maribor, Slovenia, and we’re aiming for similarly impressive increases in audience and engagement. Time and time again, we are proving the power of cloud editing and production and how it can successfully deliver even the largest and most prestigious sporting events”.

Rugby League World Cup and Whisper Enhance Reach and Engagement with Tellyo
London, UK, 8th December 2022 – The recent Rugby League World Cup (RLWC) tournament may have been delayed from its intended dates in 2021, but the competition was the most comprehensive ever staged, and saw the men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournaments held concurrently with all participants being paid the same. 32 teams (16 men, 8 women, and 8 wheelchair) from 20 nations competed in a total of 61 matches at various venues across England. For the RLWC organisers and its production partner Whisper, this totem event provided a great opportunity to flex the power of social media and reach a huge international audience using Tellyo Pro.
“We have previously worked with Tellyo on a few different projects, but this was the most significant”, notes Joe Bennet, Creative Digital Lead at Whisper. “The organisers were looking to post six clips per match plus a full highlights package, so it was a very busy schedule for our team. Tight deadlines mean we need to work with a platform that is efficient, robust and performant. We also usually work with a mixture of in-house staff and freelancers, so training and support are both important issues. I’m very pleased to say that Tellyo Pro ticks all of these boxes for us”.
One of the key features of this project was the ability of Tellyo Pro to ingest ProRes broadcast-quality files which could subsequently be shared with broadcasters and other media partners during the tournament. “We were extremely pleased with the quality of the footage and just how wide a reach we achieved”, comments Sara Piper, Head of Digital at Rugby League World Cup. “One clip featuring the challenge war dances conducted by the teams before the Samoa versus Tonga match has been viewed over 15 million times. We posted almost 600 Tellyo Pro clips throughout the tournament – these featured pre-match anthems, in-match action and post-match highlights compilations and were far and away our most engaged-with content. We’re always looking for ways to increase the popularity of Rugby League and reach new audiences – Whisper and Tellyo Pro have really helped us meet that important remit”.
“This year’s event was a thoroughly memorable World Cup”, notes Tellyo CEO Richard Collins. “I’m very proud that we were able to meet the challenging quality requirements set by the tournament organisers, and also help set a new standard for audience engagement in the men’s, women’s and wheelchair games. We’ve seen digital and social media content transformed from the lesser relation of traditional broadcast to the twin sibling, and we’re very pleased to be playing our part in that ongoing trend”.

European Universities Games Pick Tellyo for Online Coverage
London, UK, 6th September 2022 – For many people outside of Poland, the City of Lodz is perhaps less well known than more familiar names like Warsaw or Krakow. Lodz, however, is actually Poland’s third largest city and is home to over 660,00 people. It’s also the headquarters of Tellyo’s dedicated development team, who work from a renovated warehouse building in the heart of the city. In addition, this July saw Lodz acting as host city for the 2022 European Universities Games (EUG), an international multi-sport event organized every two years for university athletes by the European University Sports Association (EUSA).
This year’s games included 20 different sports, from Badminton to Water Polo, and events were hosted at a number of different venues around the city, many of which are part of the Lodz University of Technology (an EUG 2022 organiser). To facilitate the online coverage of the games, organisers worked with Tellyo and the Stream Studio cloud production solution to create livestreams, highlights packages and clips. “We have a very talented and motivated team of developers based in Lodz”, notes Tellyo CEO Richard Collins, “and it was great for the team to be able to support this significant sporting event in their home city”.
With 5,000 student athletes participating from over 400 European universities and 40 countries, this year’s games was the largest ever and the organiser’s media team created over 42 hours of live stream content and more than 250 hours of clips and highlights. “We were very pleased to partner with Tellyo for this year’s event”, comments Łukasz Śwituniak, a member of the EUG 2022 Organising Committee’s marketing team. “The Lodz connection made this partnership a very natural one, and our media team thoroughly enjoyed using Stream Studio and Tellyo Pro to produce the content for online audiences. Everyone involved noted how easy both platforms are to use and how quickly packages and clips could be produced then distributed online and to social media. We’re obviously not full-time broadcasters so that speed of adoption and ease of use are both incredibly important. Plus, we got amazing real-time technical support from the team in Lodz who couldn’t have done more to ensure the success of our coverage of the games. We reached even more people online this year compared with our last event in 2018, and that’s a testament to the power of Tellyo – we’ve really boosted our online content strategy this year, and our experience has given us plenty of food for thought for the next event in Debrecen, Hungary, in 2024”.
“Many of our developers actually studied at the Lodz University of Technology”, notes Tellyo COO Jakub Majkowski, “and they feel a very strong connection with the University and the city. We’re actively recruiting and continuing to build our team in Lodz, so our involvement in these games is a great advert for both Tellyo and this remarkable place where we live and work”.

ITTF – from strength to strength with online video strategy
The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) is the governing body for 226 worldwide associations and oversees more than 120 international events. It is one of the largest sports federations in the world and has a proud history, having organised the World Table Tennis Championships since 1926.
Our partnership with the ITTF started back in 2017 and has since gone from strength to strength. Today, Tellyo is integral to the ITTF’s direct-to-fan video strategy, enabling the federation to stream matches and share clips
from tournaments previously difficult to access for fans across the globe.
Increased global streaming collaborations
Starting with one trial tournament in 2017, Tellyo now supports all of the ITTF’s major tours and championships. More recently, our platform has been used during regional events in remote locations within Fiji, Nigeria and India.
When working in remote locations, the ITTF rely on us to seamlessly deliver streamed content to global fans online. The key to our success is two-fold. Firstly, our platform’s infrastructure is capable of receiving signals from anywhere in the world, however remote, thanks to the network of servers we use. Secondly, we provide an extensive set of advanced tools to ITTF production teams, expertly meeting their various technical requirements.
Video clips further boosting engagement with the ITTF
With a greater number of tournaments being covered, the ITTF is seizing these opportunities to create more video clips for its social media channels. In turn, these clips help to drive viewers to its live stream and are having a hugely positive impact on overall engagement with the federation and table tennis online.
“I cannot imagine life without Tellyo. The platform is at the core of our social video strategy, helping us to showcase dynamic sports content from multiple ITTF tournaments online. All-in-all, thanks to Tellyo, we’re better able to entertain and excite our fans, dramatically improving our digital reach, video views and fan engagement levels across social media.”
Guinness PRO14 – how video results skyrocketed for this unique and amazing tournament
The Guinness PRO14 Championship is a global rugby tournament that pits 14 teams from Europe and South Africa against each other in an exciting league format that culminates in knockout stages and a showcase final. Our Tellyo platform has enabled PRO14 to deliver a robust video content strategy that is driven by the creation and distribution of video clips to drive fans to its live streams.

What’s the secret behind PRO14’s video content growth?
Maximizing new channels
With the media landscape fast-evolving, PRO14 has been quick to create video content for new social channels. As a content rights holder, its strategy is about getting videos out to PRO14 rugby fans so they’re part of action, as it happens. As one of our beta partners, the organisation is also helping us to develop and test new products and features, such as our recently launched Stream Studio, Smart Clips and Auto Clip-to-Post.
Progressively larger deployment of Tellyo
Initially used as a test during the early league stages of the 2017/2018 season, PRO14 now use Tellyo to live stream games and to clip videos specifically for social media channels. During the coming 2018/2019 season, PRO14 will also push video content from Tellyo to its new OTT subscription platform.
Sharing video content with PRO14 teams
With relevant permissions and access rights in place, PRO14 is able to give its teams access to Tellyo, meaning each team’s media unit can use and share PRO14 video content. This has helped to amplify tournament matches further across social media, whilst also strengthening relationships with PRO14 teams by continuously building content resources that deliver value to everyone involved.
“We’re seeing major growth in fan viewership and engagement related to the video clips we’re now able to create and share in real time. This is all down to the video strategy we have been able to enact thanks to Tellyo. It plays a significant role in our direct to consumer strategy by giving us the means to elevate the online experience to new levels through engaging and timely content.”
Peter Connolly, Digital Manager at PRO14 Rugby

Polsat – a broadcaster at the forefront of multichannel video content
In recent years, tier-one broadcaster Polsat (from the largest Polish media and telecommunications Cyfrowy Polsat Group) has unified its different production tools. We’re proud to have worked with them throughout this process, helping to solve similar requirements across teams and channels, while delivering more dedicated solutions where necessary. Read about the solutions we delivered alongside the Cyfrowy Polsat Group below.
Multi-channel integration
Tellyo Pro ingests feeds from multiple Polsat channels, giving internal departments access to content whether they’re working remotely or at the office. At the same time Tellyo’s granular user protocols and permissions manage access rights and maintain embargos between departments and social media accounts they manage.
Dedicated live to VOD
Working with the Cyfrowy Polsat Group, we developed a dedicated solution for editing and integrating long-form content with its OTT platform, IPLA (Poland’s biggest online entertainment service). The solution enables live editing without any transcoding, delivering entire shows re-packaged for IPLA shortly after a programme ends.
Live streaming
To help drive 24/7 news coverage, live content is regularly streamed to multiple destinations simultaneously – whether it’s a visit from a foreign VIP, a major press conference or happenings at a political event.
Real-time clipping
Cyfrowy Polsat Group leverage real-time clipping and editing to create individual stories and highlight compilations from single sources or multiple, parallel live feeds. These are shared on social media to draw people into content, and to create views and engagement.
Polsat’s Kabaret Na Zywo
The main channel, Polsat (one of the leading Polish TV channels), is a big internal client using Tellyo Pro, regularly creating and sharing 500+ clips a month via our platform. The channel’s premium, big-ticket event, Kabaret Na Zywo, was broadcast live, with real-time video clips created and shared to the company’s YouTube and Facebook channels. Taken from a live stream, the most successful Kabaret Na Zywo clip has been a comedy stand-up.

“We’re continually collaborating with the Tellyo team to move forward, while Tellyo Pro has been the catalyst to help us
transform the way we work. It’s a joy to see our teams working more openly, efficiently and successfully to maximise video
content – we’re now much more engaging. Long may our fantastic partnership with Tellyo continue.”
Grzegorz Janczura, Cyfrowy Polsat’s director of internet projects
